I chose to film in a school as school itself is a transitional place. The corridors and stairwells I have focussed on are 'Non-Places', places where people move through on their way, just passing by. There is an uncanny feeling in this school after the pupils have left. The familiar sights and sounds of children passing by are replaced by the distant echoes of people talking, a late night band rehearsal and the cleaner at work. There is stillness in the absence of human presence and an uneasy feeling in the long empty corridors that a few hours later were full of moving bodies.

To emphasise these uneasy feelings and capture the subtle hints of human presence I have used slow fade in and outs; a swaying curtain creeps into view. Muffled sounds and echoes are captured in the settings they were heard in. Peripheral vision is key when considering 'The Uncanny' and is captured by a passing shadow on the wall and pulsing light coming in and out of focus, creeping into many parts of the film.

The film ends with someone leaving, you hear footsteps, a door close behind them and then there is silence.
